What is Skibo’s Subs?
Back in the early 1960s, John and Beverley Sobik, Jr. decided it was time to bring some “fresh” to Orlando. Originally from upstate New York, they packed up their bags with their first son, Bobby, and moved to sunny Central Florida. John felt, with his culinary background and Beverley’s knack for customer service, that there was plenty of room for a little sub shop in downtown Orlando. The Sobik family mission was simple: “Give the customers good food at a fair price.”
As of 1969, the Sobik’s sub shop business was growing strong, and so was their family with the births of Johnny III, Debbie and Little Dennis. With a growing family, and a growing business, John and Beverley knew it was time to meet the demands for their Cheese Steaks, Deli Subs and Salads with more locations and a bigger selection of fresh “made to order” subs.
Now more than 40 years later, Skibo’s Subs in Sanford, Florida is a labor love for the Sobik family. John Sobik, Jr. continues to introduce new items, while Dennis Sobik walks in Beverley’s footsteps making sure that he instills in employees the same emphasis on customer service preached by his mom. As Beverley always said, “Fresh never gets old.”
